I was hungry and my heart was weak
When you found me limping down the street
You said you had a place to stay
That was safe and warm and far away
And there we feasted and feasted for days
And I gave you my love and I gave you my praise
And I hung on your words and I waited around
To see all your castles high in the clouds
But I grew cold beside the vanishing flame
And the sun moon and stars never came
When the sun did rise, the light was sublime
And the fog slipped away for the very first time
And here I was rowing in a boat with ten holes
You took me out deep and then you let me go
I was bailing out water as you sat and stared
And the water closed over me as I was gasping for air
And the more that I fought, the deeper I sank
I was alone in the dark when I surrendered my strength
But I rose to the surface and was kissed by the sun
And I breathed in deep the freedom to my lungs
As I laid there floating under the big blue sky
I let the water carry me to somewhere dry
Wiser and stronger, with my spirit intact
I got up and walked and I never looked back
